NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK

You are here:

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, our Sixth Form students took part in a range of engaging activities designed to promote apprenticeships as a valuable and increasingly popular post-16 pathway. During form time, students watched webinars delivered by London Gatwick Apprenticeships and “From Learning to Earning – The Apprenticeship Advantage.” They also completed apprenticeship quizzes and explored real-life apprentice experiences to gain a clearer understanding of how apprenticeships work and what they involve. Students had the opportunity to attend additional live employer webinars across sectors including construction, engineering, rail, energy and pharmaceuticals, giving them insight into industry-specific pathways. We were also pleased to welcome an external speaker, a recent degree apprentice from RealAtkins, who shared his journey and answered students’ questions on project management and apprenticeships. Engagement was excellent throughout. In a practical workshop, students practiced applying for apprenticeships, took part in mock interviews using the STAR technique, and developed networking skills. Students stepped outside their comfort zones and responded positively to the challenge.

Student Feedback
