YEAR 9 GIRLS - GE HEALTHCARE VISIT

You are here:

On Tuesday 24th February, our year 9 girls had the opportunity to visit GE Healthcare in Buckinghamshire. This was a STEAM enrichment trip, in which the girls took part in a team challenge focused on supporting “Margaret”, a patient living with dementia. They explored the impact of dementia on both Margaret and her family, before writing and performing short scripts to present their ideas. One standout solution was the design of a mobile app to support Margaret with medication reminders, memory prompts, and family communication features. The activity encouraged empathy, creativity and problem-solving. They were also given a tour of the site, where they were able to see advanced medical equipment including ultrasound machines, infant incubators, and highly precise digital weighing scales. This gave them great insight into how science and technology are applied in healthcare. The girls participated enthusiastically throughout the day. This was a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world STEAM careers.
