Staff morale is high. (Ofsted November 2017)

Staff feel valued and well supported by leaders. They appreciate the way that their well-being is taken seriously. (Ofsted May 2023)

Wexham School is a friendly and vibrant school with a highly committed staff who want the best for all our students. We have developed a “can do” attitude through collaboration and effective partnerships. We are proud to be a non-selective secondary school with a sixth form, which Ofsted judged to be ‘Good’ in all categories in November 2017. These are exciting times to join us as we expand the school and have recently moved a substantial part of the school into new accommodation.

We offer:

  • A reduced timetable and an excellent support programme for ECTs
  • An excellent continued professional development programme for all staff, consistently rated highly on our staff surveys.
  • All teaching staff have dedicated PPA time and additional protected non-contact time.
  • All teaching staff benefit from a dedicated timetabled weekly CPD session, adding to non-contact time.
  • All staff are provided with a laptop.
  • A well-being programme with access to external support and guidance.
  • Free use of our fitness suite before or after school.
  • There is ample parking on the school site. Especially if you are doing your own school runs in the morning, this reduces stress!!
  • Three Days of CPD for teaching staff are conducted via twilight sessions, adding to our summer holiday. Please note that our students complete 190 days in school as this is their educational right, and it is morally and ethically the right thing for us to do!
  • All staff can volunteer for paid lunchtime duties. Staff willingly do as it is a pleasure to be with our children during non-structured time.
  • Teaching staff only conduct one breaktime duty a week and this is always scheduled when staff have a PPA, Non Contact or CPD slot next to breaktime!
  • Only SLT and Leaders of Key Stage conduct before and after school supervisory duties.

As a result, our retention of staff is excellent, including those that secure internal or external promotions.

''The senior leadership speak with one voice and there is a strong sense of unity of purpose, expectation and direction which is leading to positive attitudes and good morale.'' (Tony Billings, School Effectiveness Officer, February 2021)

As a maintained school, all our teachers must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on a recognised training route. This also means that the requirements for teachers' pay and conditions for maintained schools in England must be adopted by the School and the Local Authority.

For all teaching posts (with no teaching and learning responsibility), we may be able to offer Initial Teacher Training. If you would like to train with us, please contact the school and ask to speak to Ben Clark, Assistant Headteacher.

Many posts we are advertising are new positions due to the school expanding. In three years the school has grown by over 350 students. Larger year groups have now replaced smaller year groups at Key Stage Four (GCSE) leading to a significant expansion of staffing over the last two years. Now these large groups are due to enter our Sixth Form, which will complete our expansion by 2026.
